Staring into the vastness of the cosmos wondering: Is it possible for existence to arise from pure nothingness, or is there always a hidden cause behind every effect? How does something come into being? What is the true nature of creation?
These questions echoed in my mind, urging me to seek answers beyond the ordinary. I turned to the ancient texts, searching for a wisdom that transcends time and culture—a source that could illuminate the mystery of manifestation itself.
Turning the pages of Samkhya Darshan, I encountered a shlok that stopped me in my tracks:
“नावस्तुनो वास्तुसिद्धिः”
Transliteration: Nāvastuno Vāstusiddhiḥ
Translation: Nothingness cannot manifest into something.
The revelation was both humbling and exhilarating. The cosmos, with all its wonders, does not spring forth from a void. Every star, every thought, every moment—each is the result of a cause, a precursor, a seed. There is no magic trick where something appears out of absolute nothingness. The universe is a grand tapestry, each thread woven from what came before.
This shloka challenged me to see the world not as a series of random miracles, but as a dance of causes and effects—kāraṇa and kārya. It is a joyful realization: to honor the origins, and to marvel at the interconnectedness of all things. Wearing this wisdom is a reminder that every manifestation in life, including our own, is grounded in something profound and eternal.
Nāvastuno Vāstusiddhiḥ: The answer to the ultimate question of how anything—beauty, thought, or even a t-shirt—comes to be.
Wearing the t-shirt that leads you in a direction is no more a t-shirt, its a sovernier, of a realization about the perpetual change of the cosmos far from what we can hold...
